tintii v2.3.0 Released

Version 2.3.0 of tintii is now available from the usual place. The main aim of this release is compatibility — tintii now supports 64-bit Photoshop CS4 & CS5 on Windows and 64-bit Photoshop CS5 on the Mac. Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) support is in there too. The one unfortunate side effect is that I’ve had to remove support for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) in order to update the source for these later platforms. Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later is now required; the older version will still work on Tiger of course.

Note that both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are now consolidated in the one file on both Windows and Mac. The standalone version will operate in 32-bit only, but the plugin version in 32- or 64-bit as required.

I’d like to thank Roger Williamson for providing the new icon in version 2.3.0 — for Mac users in particular tintii should now happily sit alongside all those other applications on your dock!

I have not made a source release for Linux (and other Unix variants) this time around, for two reasons. Firstly, no new features have been added, so there is little point. Secondly, in order to support 64-bit Cocoa on Mac I’ve had to use wxWidgets 2.9, which is still in development and not readily available in distros. If 2.9 is not stable by the time of my next update, I’ll be trying to backport to 2.8, which shouldn’t require much effort.

I installed it, but it doesn’t appear in the CS5 filterlist. The PS CS5 plugin folder contains on my Imac.only 1 file(tintii plugin as an alias)

Theo — you may need to install it manually into CS5, have a look at http://www.indii.org/software/tintii/download for instructions. If you can let me know where your CS5 plugin folder is I can add it to the installer to fix this for future.

I’ve tried the manual install in Photoshop CS5 under C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\Plug-Ins however Photoshop wont’ show the tintii Filter.

Trialing in Photoshop CS5 and can’t get it to load.

    Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\

    Plug-ins that failed to load:

tintii NO VERSION – – from the file “tintii.8bf”

    any ideas?

Kathy — you may need to install the plugin manually if the setup program hasn’t managed to install it automatically into Paint Shop Pro. Have a look at http://www.indii.org/software/tintii/download for instructions.

Frank — looks as though you have a 32-bit installation. Did you copy in the tintii.8bf file? Also looks as though you may have installed to Bridge rather than Photoshop, tintii has not been tested there.

Andrew — looks as though you’re on 64-bit, make sure you copy over (or create a shortcut to) the tintii-x64.8bf file, not the tintii.8bf file.

    Cheers, got it now.

Does it only work with CS4 and CS5 or will this plug-in work for CS3 also?

  10. Lawrence

Hi Hope — it will work with CS3 also, and indeed some earlier versions.

I just bought and installed it in the applications folder of my PS Elements 6 for Mac. My operating system is Mac OS X 10.4.6 Snow Leopard.
I already tried 4 times with different images inside PS Elements 6 and run it as a plugin but each time my PS Elements just quit right away.

    Please help.

  12. Rinku

It is a very nice software for me.

  13. Lawrence

To Reynaldo and others who have reported crashes, I believe these issues are now resolved in version 2.5.2 (available at http://www.indii.org/software/tintii/download ).
