Can you add the filename to the title bar so we can tell which file we are working on.

Hi Lawrence
You’re asking for user input.
So here goes.
How about a lasso widget
or something similar?
That way I could select
the parts I want to go
grey(BW).
No need for any post
processing.
That is, after Tint
has processed the picture.
Also an image preview
in the file selector
would be nice

Thanks John and Lou for the ideas. Will jot these down to look at in future.

With the problems I’m having compiling, I’m planning on wiping my disk and doing a fresh install of SuSE 10.2. Could you share a list of what you updated after your install to get this thing to work? I don’t have much new on my system since my install, and my /home directory is on a separate disk, so I won’t have to wipe that either.
Obviously, wxWidgets has been updated, but I’d like to know to which version; also any other software updates or additions.
TIA,
Jim

Hi Jim.
I have OpenSuSE 10.2, which I believe package-wise is equivalent to the commercial version? Where possible, I install things locally at the user level rather than overwriting system wide packages. To that end, all I have are the OpenSuSE packages plus a local install of wxWidgets 2.8.4 (latest stable). Everything else, including boost, is as provided in the distro.

SUCCESS!!!
Based on the theory that I had an incompatible library file somewhere, I reinstalled my Suse 10.2 system. I upgraded the wx stuff to 2.8 per the readme, an it WORKED!!!
I haven’t a clue as to what library was conflicting but I’m very glad to have this behind me.
Great program!!

OK, now that I have it working, I can make myself a real PITA by making a suggestion or two. *S*
1. It would be nice if the file selector would ignore case. I get a lot of other people’s pic’s to work on, sometimes a lot of them, and often the file extensios are in upper case. Those don’t show up for tint processing.
2. A small preview thumbnail window of the file the cursor is on would also be nice. There are a lot of numbered files, and when you shoot a lot of them it can be confusing which is which.

For the record, I did all required software upgrades through the various SuSE repositories. I have about a dozen of them in my search list. There is a hard to find page on the SuSE site that has a search. I used that to find the latest upgrades so I avoided compiling and installing by hand this time.
If anyone else is using SuSE, I recommend they search for newer versions of wx, etc. at:
http://software.opensuse.org/search
and look through the sites it returns as not all of them have the same versions.
Hope this helps someone else in the future.

Another idea for improvement.
Make a directory where tint picks up its icons, something like ~/.tint. You may need something like this for future enhancements also.
It’s kind of a pain having to navigate to again and again from the tint directory.
I would imagine there could be something similar in Windows.
