Installation on Windows

The Windows download is a setup executable that you can run to install tintii in the usual manner. If you elect to install the Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro plugin, the setup program will automatically try to detect the location of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro on your computer and install the plugin accordingly. You should be able to locate tintii via the Filters > indii.org > tintii menu item in Photoshop, or Effects > Plugins menu item in Paint Shop Pro. If you cannot, follow the instructions below for a manual install.

If you have had to perform a manual install as below, please email me to let me know the location of your Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro installation. I can add it to the tintii installer to make updating easier for you in future!

For Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

The plugin is a file tintii.8bf in the location where you installed tintii, usually c:\Program Files\indii.org\tintii. Create a shortcut to this file, or copy it into, the Plug-Ins directory of your Photoshop installation, usually something like C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop *\Plug-Ins. Creating a shortcut is preferable, as it will make updating easier in future.

If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, tintii will usually install into c:\Program Files (x86)\indii.org\tintii. If your Photoshop installation is in c:\Program Files (x86), it is 32-bit, and you should follow the instructions in the preceding paragraph. If your Photoshop installation is instead in c:\Program Files you should create a shortcut or copy the tintii-x64.8bf file into your Photoshop Plug-Ins directory instead.

You will need to restart Photoshop before tintii appears in the Filter > indii.org menu.

For Paint Shop Pro

Option 1

The plugin is a file tintii.8bf in the location where you installed tintii, usually c:\Program Files\indii.org\tintii. Copy this file into the Languages\YOUR_LANGUAGE\PlugIns directory of your Paint Shop Pro installation, usually at something like C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro*.

For example, for an English (US) installation of Paint Shop Pro X2, you would usually copy the tintii.8bf file into C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2\Languages\EN\PlugIns. For English (International), replace EN with IE.

With Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3, note that there is a directory called plugin that you can copy the plugin into instead.

Note that unlike with Photoshop, you cannot simply create a shortcut to the file, it must be copied. You will need to restart Paint Shop Pro before tintii appears.

Option 2

Alternatively, copy the tintii.8bf file into any directory of your choosing and use the File > Preferences > File Locations menu item from within Paint Shop Pro; select Plug-ins from the list on the left, and add that directory to the list.

Installation on Mac

The Mac download is a disk image that contains an installer package. Simply run this to install tintii in the usual fashion. The standalone application will be installed to /Applications/tintii. If you elect to install the plugin, it will be located at /Library/indii.org/plugins/tintii.plugin.

The installer will attempt to automatically detect the location of Photoshop on your Mac and install the tintii plugin there. You should be able to access the plugin via the Filters > indii.org > tintii menu item in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. If you cannot, you will need to install it manually.

To install manually, locate your Photoshop Plug-ins directory, usually at /Applications/Adobe Photoshop*/Plug-ins. Create an alias to, or copy the /Library/indii.org/plugins/tintii.plugin file into there. Restart Photoshop, and tintii should appear.

If you have had to perform a manual install like this, please email me to let me know where your Photoshop is installed. I can add this location to the installer to make updating easier for you in future!
